Community

2019: Habitat for Humanity of Greater Charlottesville

Since 2004 Habitat has dedicated itself to creating new mixed-income communities and infusing existing neighborhoods with affordable housing. They believe in diverse, inclusive, and vibrant communities of neighbors that transcend socioeconomic and cultural divides.

They also believe in the importance of building relationships. Habitat works to create a sense of community, social cohesion, and collective capacity among future homebuyers, empowering them towards goals far beyond homeownership.

 

2018: Common Ground Healing Arts

Common Ground Healing Arts is Charlottesville’s nonprofit community wellness center.

Common Ground offers yoga, massage, acupuncture and meditation on a pay-what-you-can scale at the Jefferson School City Center. Common Ground also offers their services at Westhaven Nursing Clinic, The Fluvanna Correctional Center for Women, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and Blue Ridge Juvenile Detention. In fall 2018 Common Ground will launch the first yoga teacher training at a Virginia prison.

 

2017: International Neighbors

Gina Sobel

Gina Sobel is a natural improviser. A virtuoso on multiple instruments (flute, sax, voice), she exudes energy and excitement in her live performances and is in sought after as a soloist with national and international performers.

Tina Hashemi Jazz Quartet

Tina Hashemi performs through the UVA music department and locally at a variety of venues with her jazz quintet. Her warm vocals closed out last year’s festival. She is returning again to sooth us with her smooth sound.

FULL PLATE

Full Plate is a 4 piece rock cover band playing carefully selected hits from the 60s to today. Formed in 2008, Full Plate plays clubs and private events throughout greater Richmond and Charlottesville, Virginia. Returning to dance us through the festival!

My story takes place in the hills of central Virginia where I blend handcrafted teas in a vintage airstream. My days end with a cup of hot tea and a good book relaxing with my animals and being thankful for the life I live.

We are a local small batch specialty coffee roasting company. Independently owned and operated we source 100% Arabica coffee from sustainable coffee farms around the world.
